Each species of wood has it's own distinctive color and/or grain patterns. I've been told that the different minerals in the soil that a tree is growing in can effect the color of the wood. I knocked out a couple of charcuterie boards this evening. I used Black Walnut, but look at those beautiful greens in that grain. I finished them with mineral oil which makes the easy to care for.
